Fall Color in Convict Lake

courtney-3

So many families come up from Southern California to vacation and enjoy the fall color around the Eastern Sierra. My family and I always head up to Rock Creek (definite soft spot for that canyon) but rarely get out to other places — I’m so thankful that my photography gets me out when I would probably otherwise me cuddled up at home with Phil & John Henry…. Husband + Baby = My World.

So, are you coming up from So Cal and looking for a photographer to document your family around the holidays? These photos are taken up at Convict Lake, just 15 or 20 minutes south of Mammoth Lakes. Of course there is NO shortage of beautiful locations to photograph families and loved ones, and hey! So many options just walking distance from the car.

I love wrangling kiddos although with just 6 months of mommyhood under my belt, I can’t claim I’m an expert or anything but I love being a part of the family, if even just for an hour.

Michael & Lacey

LM BLOG

The more weddings I do, the more photos I take, the more I figure out who I am as a photographer, and the more I figure out who my dream client is.

Lacey & Michael are my dream client.

These two are the real deal. In love.

Because of their laid back nature and overall chemistry, it really was no wonder that their guests were even my dream clients as well – relaxed & genuinely happy. Seriously, there was so much goodness going around it was hard to take it all in. These are my people.

Lacey & Michael exchanged vows in a beautiful field, nestled in the Alabama Hills with the looming Sierra in the background. They had their guests camp out on the property, and as fun as the ceremony was, I imagined that the real partying happened after I left.

It truly was a day to remember. The wind. The beautiful bouquet Lacey gathered from her guests as she walked down the aisle. The pinky promise. The vows. And of course…

The love, the love, the love.

Alice & Andrew are Expecting

AAA Maternity-23

Alice and Andrew are expecting their little bundle of joy April 6, 2017. A baby girl. And they can’t be more excited. Heck, I can’t be more excited for them!! They have read the books and prepared the nursery but what is going to make these two exceptional parents is their undeniable love that they have for each other.

Congratulations to you Alice & Andrew!! You two are going to be amazing parents, I truly can not wait to meet your little girl.

How cute are Mike & Katie?!

This was my first “in-home” session and I think we all had a blast. In-home photo sessions are intimate & comfortable and really lets a couple’s personality shine. This session was particularly amazing because I got to partake in some of those delicious sourdough waffles they whipped up!

Mike and Katie are ALWAYS cooking up something amazing. They both navigate a kitchen like total bosses and create food combinations that are incredibly delicious and mind boggling to me. Gosh, I need to learn how to cook!

Although these two are completely comfortable lounging around the house in their pajamas they also really get after it — planning their next adventure, next mountain to climb or of course, their next dinner to host.

I am so lucky to call these 2 family and can’t wait to document their love story for years to come.

Personal: December in Bishop, California

Fumie on Heavenly Path V1

I really can’t count how many times Phil and I have said, “We live in the best place in the world.” We say it a lot. Daily maybe.

Bishop, California has treated us well for just shy of 4 years, but we sincerely look forward to spending the rest of our days here, growing our family and raising our little John Henry here. And although this post isn’t about the Eastern Sierra Women’s March, we participated today along with some 580 other Eastern Sierra residents and couldn’t have felt more encouraged and positive about our town and our greater community as a whole.

But onto the bouldering and how beautiful Bishop is in December. We live is a town that has world-class rock climbing and mountain views that I believe are unriveled. A town that is generally sleepy and quite, very much our style. And this year Bishop has been getting some much needed snow that has only added to the beauty of the Owens Valley.

We are so thankful to live in a place that we love, of course! But to live in a place that our friends love too — a place where they are willing to travel hundreds of miles just to visit us (ok and climb) now that is  something to be even more thankful for.

Here is a compliation of pictures from December 2016. Lots of climbing with friends, outdoor adventures and caputing the many magnificent faces of my dear friend Fumie Hiromitsu.

Enjoy.

Jiselle & Brett

untitled-87

Jiselle & Brett came down from Mammoth Lakes to get some pictures in the wild iris fields before the flowers were done for the season — the photo session just happened to turn into an impromptu engagement session! Jiselle asked Brett to marry her just a day or two before and of course — he said yes! Congratulations Jiselle & Brett!

Sunrise w/ Nicole & Michael

nm-oct-2016-40

Huntington Beach, California – the temperatures are always perfect and it’s not far from whatever type of scenery you want – mountains, desert, ocean, lakes, forests – you name it and it’s all within a days drive. Although I absolutely love living in Bishop, I still have a big fat soft spot for the beach and its foggy mornings.

For our portrait photography session, we decided to take an early morning walk at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands — I had yet to take sunrise pictures and although I wouldn’t describe myself as a morning person, this session with Nicole & Michael made me wanting to do many many more.

The beautiful orange and yellow light + the cozy fall appeal = one very happy photographer. Thank you Nicole & Michael for dragging my butt outta bed and for being such an incredibly fun couple to photograph.
