Shelby & Wes met about a handful of years ago at Mammoth Mountain. Ironically, their job for the mountain involved them taking photos of people. You know those people at the top of the lifts? Yes, that was Shelby & Wes.
While they are both familiar with being behind a camera, they were brave enough to step in front of mine.
A couple weeks ago we drove up to Mammoth, Phil was chauffeur and Kristen was my moral support – I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous! – but I can honestly say it was a true pleasure capturing these two.
Yes, it was a major learning experience for me – having to direct for the first time while still trying to manage the actual technicalities of taking a good photo.
Shelby & Wes will forever be an integral part of “my story.” They will always be the first couple I will have had the honor to photograph in an “engagement” session AND their photos are the first ones I have ever edited outside of iPhoto. Lightroom is another major undertaking, but Shelby & Wes have been patient with me.
This whole photography thing is a journey. One that I am really excited about. I’m believing it will only continue to get better.
