Personal: December in Bishop, California

Fumie on Heavenly Path V1
I really can’t count how many times Phil and I have said, “We live in the best place in the world.” We say it a lot. Daily maybe.
Bishop, California has treated us well for just shy of 4 years, but we sincerely look forward to spending the rest of our days here, growing our family and raising our little John Henry here. And although this post isn’t about the Eastern Sierra Women’s March, we participated today along with some 580 other Eastern Sierra residents and couldn’t have felt more encouraged and positive about our town and our greater community as a whole.
But onto the bouldering and how beautiful Bishop is in December. We live is a town that has world-class rock climbing and mountain views that I believe are unriveled. A town that is generally sleepy and quite, very much our style. And this year Bishop has been getting some much needed snow that has only added to the beauty of the Owens Valley.
We are so thankful to live in a place that we love, of course! But to live in a place that our friends love too — a place where they are willing to travel hundreds of miles just to visit us (ok and climb) now that is something to be even more thankful for.
Here is a compliation of pictures from December 2016. Lots of climbing with friends, outdoor adventures and caputing the many magnificent faces of my dear friend Fumie Hiromitsu.
Enjoy.

Evguenia & Frantisek
Evguenia & Frantisek chose one of the most beautiful places in the world to get married, Yosemite National Park. And specifically Glacier Point nonetheless.
Congratulations to this sweet couple, whose love will surely stand the test of time like the ancient formations around them.
Enjoy.
Trying to explain a vacation to someone is always hard to do. This is going to sound cliche but, sometimes, you just had to be there.
That being said, I’m going to ramble a little about the trip and some realizations I had, but don’t expect an actual synopsys.
Groovin’ into Retirement
Last weekend Phil and I drove down to Nipomo for Phil’s Aunt Marylynn’s 60th birthday and retirement party. It was a short trip, as we left on Saturday morning and returned Sunday afternoon, but it was rich in quality time.
Shelby & Wes
Shelby & Wes met about a handful of years ago at Mammoth Mountain. Ironically, their job for the mountain involved them taking photos of people. You know those people at the top of the lifts? Yes, that was Shelby & Wes.
